🚀 Touchdown Demo Day: Celebrating the Future of Innovation from Western Sydney

After 15 weeks of intense learning, iteration, and growth, the latest cohort of the Ignition Startup Accelerator has officially touched down. On July 2nd, Launch Pad at Western Sydney University proudly hosted Touchdown Demo Day, a high-energy finale celebrating the incredible journey of ten early-stage startups who are shaping the future of innovation across health, tech, property, AI, and beyond.

What is Demo Day?

Demo Day is more than just a pitch event. It’s the culmination of months of hard work from our founders refining their ideas, validating solutions with real customers, and building scalable ventures. It’s also an opportunity for the wider innovation ecosystem to meet the bold thinkers emerging from Western Sydney and to explore future-forward ideas ready for investment, collaboration, or commercial partnership.

From pitch decks to prototypes, these founders shared not only their products but their passion – and the stories behind why they’re building what they’re building.

A special highlight of the day was our Alumni Spotlight Chat with Iris Phan, founder of DRESSI, the AI-powered fashion platform reimagining how we style and shop. Just 12 months ago, Iris was standing on the same Demo Day stage, pitching her early idea. Now, she’s on the brink of launching DRESSI to the public.

In a candid and inspiring conversation, Iris shared:

✨ How the idea for DRESSI started and the spark that drove her to pursue it
💡 What surprised her most about the startup journey as a solo and female founder
🔍 One key insight she wishes she’d known from the beginning
🔮 Her bold vision for what DRESSI will look like in five years
🚀 Tips for launching when you don’t feel ready and how to take the leap anyway

The session was honest, real, and incredibly valuable for the aspiring founders in the room,  especially those who feel the fear of launching or simply don’t know where to begin.
