From Passion to Profit: Lessons Learned at Launch Pad’s Side Hustle Event

Launch Pad recently conducted the latest edition of its Side Hustle Series – a series designed to empower aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to kickstart their own side hustles. This new iteration marks a departure from the specific-focus format of previous workshops, aiming instead to provide a comprehensive guide on how to build a successful side hustle from the ground up.

The workshop kicked off with an inspirational video featuring Ethan Hawke, which set the tone for creativity and innovation; “Give yourself permission to be creative,” Ethan Hawke.

Central to the workshop’s ethos is the idea of transforming passion into profit, as highlighted by the facilitator of session, Entrepreneur In Residence, Jamie Pride;

"Side hustle is about turning what you love into something that you can make money out of"

He also emphasized the importance of dedication and persistence; “You need to commit 12 months and then after 12 months you can give up, with consistency, you gotta give one message.”

Participants were guided through various essential aspects of launching a side hustle, including presenting oneself effectively on camera, navigating the passion economy, and managing expectations. A key session focused on helping attendees identify their passions and translate them into viable business ideas as students were reminded that that they can create a side hustle out of anything.

Facilitating this process was the exclusive Side Hustle Canvas, a structured framework designed to help participants balance their interests, skills, and value creation effectively.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) played a pivotal role in the workshop, with Brad advising attendees on leveraging AI to validate their ideas and streamline operational tasks.

It’s not about being the best, it’s about getting better. We aim for the slow burn – the long run. While going viral is possible, sustained growth is more realistic.

The final session, led by Jamie, explored various business models participants could adopt for their side hustles, providing a roadmap for sustainable business development.

This revamped workshop resonated deeply with a diverse cohort, underscoring Launch Pad’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial talent. For those eager to delve deeper into their side hustle journey, Launch Pad offers ongoing support through additional events and resources.
