Landing gigs as a creator: The power of Consistency, Authenticity & Just hitting post – ft. Tanush Pratheepan

Balancing work, a creative side hustle and social obligations is no easy feat—but for Tanush, it’s become a path to personal growth, creative freedom, and even paid opportunities. As a budding content creator, Tanush has found a way to use social media not only as a creative outlet but also as a space for professional development.

What began as a simple interest in social media has now evolved into a confident online presence, with organisations reaching out for collaborations and Tanush building a name for himself—all while staying true to his values and vision.

Letting Go of Perfectionism and Finding Confidence

For a long time, Tanush hesitated to share his work. Like many creatives, he struggled with perfectionism and the fear of being seen. But everything changed when he shifted his mindset: “Sometimes the biggest step is just hitting post.” That single act of pushing through the fear helped him realise that growth comes from showing up—flaws and all.

His content now reflects his journey—not curated perfection, but raw, real moments that resonate. As he kept posting and letting go of self-doubt, people began to notice. His voice grew stronger, and so did the opportunities, including paid gigs with brands that value honest storytelling.

During Welcome Week 2025, Tanush took over Launch Pad’s Instagram, and from that experience—along with collaborating with other creatives, Tanush has found a community that celebrates experimentation and growth. “You don’t have to be the best,” he says. “You just have to start.”

Finding His Flow

Being a busy young adult with multiple obligations to meet, time is always in short supply. But instead of trying to compartmentalise his life, Tanush takes a more fluid approach—bringing his creative mindset into every part of his day. Whether it’s filming snippets in between commute, editing late at night, or taking inspiration from conversations at work, he makes creativity a consistent part of his lifestyle.

And this flow-based approach has helped him avoid burnout. “It doesn’t feel like pressure when I do it because I want to,” he explains. “It’s not something I force.”

Building a Personal Brand, Not Just Content

For Tanush, content creation is also about building a brand—one rooted in self-awareness and authenticity. He’s not trying to be someone else. He’s not copying trends for the sake of it. He’s creating content that reflects his voice, his background, and his journey.

The earliest part of that growth came from participating in Side Hustle Series, a program that gave him the space to develop his ideas, experiment with content, and get clear on what he wanted to say. Through that experience, Tanush started to see content creation not just as a hobby, but as a way to build something meaningful.

That kind of alignment has helped him grow not just an audience, but a sense of purpose. “I’ve started to realise that if you do what feels right to you, the right people will find you.”

A Message to His Future Self

When asked what he would say to himself five years from now, Tanush paused—and then spoke with clarity:

“I hope you’re still creating. I hope you’re still expressing yourself. And I hope you’re not scared to be seen anymore. I hope you’re doing it because it brings you joy.”

His journey is a reminder that showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable, is often the first step to finding your voice—and your place in the world.
