An introductory short course to learn the foundations of managing a product throughout its entire lifecycle – from its initial ideation and creation to its end-of-life, and everything in between! In this program you will learn from Australia’s leaders in digital transformation, LEAP Australia and Western Sydney University.
Please note that you’ll be working through this Course alongside students of MECH 7002 – Advance Computer Aided Engineering Subject.

Short Course: Introduction to Product Lifecycle Management
Course Overview
Often overlooked as an important aspect to a products development, Product Lifecycle Management involves managing all the product data and business logic in designing, developing, manufacturing, marketing and retiring a product – the closed loop manufacturing cycle.
Developed in collaboration with leading experts in PLM technology, LEAP Australia, participants can expect industry-led classes, hands-on experience, and practical real-world case studies to gain the knowledge and skills required to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world of innovation and competitive enterprise.
Course Details
Entry Criteria: This course is available to WSU students only. Students can enrol from any background or level of expertise.
Whether you’re a curious student, a budding engineer, or an aspiring entrepreneur, this course is your gateway to understanding how to navigate the nuances of PLM and use its power to drive innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Course Structure
The Product Lifecycle Management Program will consist of:
- Online, self-paced learning using Open Learning Platform
- Face to Face training sessions
- Hands-on skills development at Western Sydney University Campus
Time Commitment: 30 hours spread over 3 weeks
- 1 online module each week
- 3 online lectures
- 3 face-to-face workshops
Online lecture dates:
- Tuesdays: 01/10, 08/10 & 15/10/2024
- Time: 3pm – 5pm
- Location: Zoom
3 face-to-face workshops (Mandatory):
- Fridays: 04/10, 11/10 & 18/10/2024
- Time: 1pm-4pm
- Location: Parramatta Engineering Innovation Hub

Certificate Criteria
To receive the official certificate, you must:
- Attend (3) x weekly face-to-face Practical workshops
- Submit (3) x Lab Worksheets during each Practical workshop
- Complete (3) x Summary Quizzes for each weekly learning module
- Provide (1) x short feedback form
